APOGEE Point Expansion Modules
provide another way to add to the Floor Level Network (FLN) point capacity
of MBCs, RBCs and MECs, without the need or expense of another processor.
PXMs also provide a solution for placing point terminations close to
end devices, eliminating wiring for each point that would otherwise
go to the controller.
Available with both analog and digital Input and Output models with
optional Hand-Off-Auto switches.
With MECs, PXM communication is possible if connected through the Expansion
Bus or through the FLN connections. With MBCs and RBCs, FLN communication
only is available. |

| When
would I use a Point Expansion Module? |
| When you are running
out of point capacity on a controller, and are looking for
a lower cost and smaller space option to expand rather than
buying another controller When you want to serve series
or remote points, with less wiring involved than connecting
all individually to an MBC or MEC

| Local
User Interface (LUI) for APOGEE system controllers? |
| A panel-mounted device
that enables building operators to monitor and control system equipment
nearer to the equipment. Connected by a RJ11 cable to any APOGEE
system controller, a LUI provides a gateway to monitor, command
and perform diagnostics on point databases, nearer to the controlled
environment.
With proper password and user access priveleges, users can scroll
through point names, and access information on a value, point
priority and alarm status, and change point value or priority.
|
|
MWhen
would I want a LUI? |
When you want the
convenience to perform diagnostic, alarm remedy and command
and control functions near the controlled environment
When you want the convenience of point database access near
the controller
When you want to provide system access to multiple remote
personnel, each with their own defined access privileges.

| APOGEE?
Modular Equipment Controllers (MECs) |
Convenient:
The LUI is compliant with all existing APOGEE system controllers.
It provides solutions for communicating with the controller
at the controller, without needing to be at an Insight workstation.
Users can monitor, adjust or command points at the panel with
an easy-to-read display and alphanumeric keypad. Easy-to-Use:
Point searches are easy. Display a single point, scroll
through a listing of all possible points, or use search
filters.
Secure:
Setup includes assignment of passwords and user access privileges.
Depending on the user's identity and privileges, they can
perform commands or simply observe point data.

| Fixed
Features / Many Options
There are several choices of MECs available to match a variety
of requirements. With each MEC having a fixed feature set,
you purchase only what you need.
Cost-Efficient
MECs provide a reliable, lower-cost option for environments
that do not require a lot of change. If you do need to upgrade
or change, simply swap in another MEC without re-wiring.
Scaleable
Up to 100 MECs and other field panels can communicate concurrently
on a peer-to-peer Building Level Network (BLN). You can
also expand point capacity for some MECs with a Point Expansion
Module (PXM). New POWER MEC 1XXX models enable even greater
processing speed and capabilities.

| Expand
the potential of your APOGEE system with new POWER capabilities |
Take maximum
advantage of building information, integration and control strategies
with more powerful processing capabilities.
Greatly expand the power of your APOGEE system and make room for
things yet to come |
|
| Everything may look the
same, but the capabilities of APOGEE field panels are dramatically
improved. Our newest generation of controllers - POWER MECs and
MBCs with the POWER Open Processor - offer you greatly accelerated
processing, faster communication, and more room for growth.
Do more, faster
Using a more powerful microprocessor, POWER-enabled MECs and MBC
Open Processors operate at speeds up to 100 times faster than
previous models. The result: far less time waiting for data to
upload and far more headroom to expand and perform other, more
complex tasks.
Use the power of the Ethernet
Some versions of POWER MECs and POWER Open Processors for MBCs
can be connected on an Ethernet TCP/IP infrastructure. This combination
gives you the advantage of connecting field panels directly to
your standard communications network, enabling you to reduce wiring
costs, speed up data transmission (up to 100 times faster) and
in some cases perform routine system status checks and tasks (such
as changing temperature set point) using basic Windows?tools.
Provide room for future expansion or change
New POWER Open Processors for MBCs come with 72 megabytes of RAM
standard -- up to 18 times more memory than previous versions.
You can upgrade or expand your current MBC investment with greater
capacity for larger databases, and monitoring and controlling
more points - physical, virtual and unbundled. Increased RAM also
allows you to collect more trend data that you can use to identify
system improvement areas, fine-tune troubleshooting, and meet
stringent reporting requirements from regulatory agencies.
Look for the APOGEE POWER Inside label. This identifies APOGEE
system controllers that enable you to take advantage of the latest
and greatest system capabilities.
