Multilingualism for configuration and runtime
From the start, SIMATIC WinCC has been designed for international
use.
The configuration software is not only available in English, French,
Spanish, Italian and German, but also in Chinese, Taiwanese, Korean
and Japanese. This multilingual capability extends to the configuration
interface, the help system and the documentation. The configuration
interface can be switched between English, French, Spanish,
Italian and German.
Several runtime languages can be specified in the configuration.
In runtime, the user can then switch among these languages
by simply clicking on a button.
One notable feature of WinCC is its support of Asian symbol languages.
The texts for runtime applications - including static texts
and tooltips - can be edited in up to 34 languages (Windows Primary
Languages).
For static texts, the tool EasyLanguage is available that
enables the export and import of all texts - picture-specific
or application-wide - for translation with a standard tool. Here,
the Siemens partner DCC can provide valuable help.
SIMATIC WinCC is available in a language version for China,
Taiwan, Japan and Korea.

The configuration interface
of the Asian versions can be switched between the installed Asian
national language and English. This allows configuration personnel
from other countries to make changes to the project if required
(e.g. for maintenance purposes). The Asian version of Windows
is not required for configuring and testing an Asian WinCC project.
Thanks to the Multi-Language User Interface by Windows
2000 or Windows XP, a change between the Asian and the German
or English operating system is not a problem. These versions
meet the needs of machine manufacturers, plant constructors and
exporters who supply the regions of China, Taiwan, Korea and Japan
by offering a localized user interface.
On the target computers, purely Asian Windows operating systems
can be employed, which can be purchased from Siemens sales partners
